The retreat

What it is

You choose the length. The assessment comes first, because what suits you in October may not be what suited you in March, and a retreat designed before we have met you is a timetable rather than a retreat.

From there it is your treatments, yoga and meditation, and food cooked for how you are eating at the time. In the Macedon Ranges, an hour from Melbourne.

We dedicate the entire session to your process, tailoring all treatments to your body's needs each day, as you learn to utilise the system of Ayurveda to maintain your own health. We specialise in burnout recovery, nervous system and trauma support.

  • What you choose

Beyond the massage you choose three more therapies from the menu: shirodhara, garshan or udvartana, swedana, reflexology, reiki, kati basti, ear candling, or pinda swedana. You do not have to decide any of it before you arrive.

  • An example plan

A daily private yoga, meditation or sound healing session, an Ayurvedic wellbeing consultation, Ayurvedic massage (abhyanga), an organic plant-based Ayurvedic facial, reflexology, and somatic or energy healing.

  • Where you stay

The Piper Street Tea Room cottages, three self-contained units a short walk from us in what used to be the bluestone Tea Rooms. Full kitchens, one with a freestanding bath, cosy king and queen bedrooms with panel heaters, a split system in the lounge, with smart TV, books and board games, and big double-glazed doors and windows for the sun and sunsets. Free all-day parking out the front and everything you need within walking distance.

  • Food

Home-style organic vegetarian and Ayurvedic meals can be included in your package, or you can self-cater, or you can explore the variety of local eateries on Piper Street, a foodie haven, which is the reason a lot of people come to Kyneton in the first place.

  • When to come

Book ahead. Weekends and midweek both work, and midweek is quieter and cheaper.

  • In Ash's words

Transformational. I reached out to Marye during a tough time seeking some clarity and self direction. I did a 3 day retreat away from the daily stress and bombardment to just find some time for me. Marye was incredibly quick to understand my situation. Her unique approach to guiding you which then leads to arming you with what you need to self heal and understand more about yourself is the true gift I walked away with. Every session was 1; productive, 2; practical and 3; spiritual. It's very, very rare to find all 3 that work so well together, which was exactly what I needed. Thanks Marye. Ash, Melbourne, June 2019.

  • The mid-week reset

Four nights, Sunday to Thursday arrival, for the price of three: daily yoga, yoga nidra and meditation (three 90 minute sessions), an Ayurvedic wellbeing consultation, three hours of treatments each day over three afternoons, and all meals, snacks and herbal teas. $2,850 a person. Book by 30 November 2026, stay by 31 March 2027.

  1. First, the assessmentBefore anything is booked. What suits you in October may not be what suited you in March, and a retreat designed before we have met you is a timetable.
  2. Each dayThree or four hours of treatment: a private practice session, a full body Ayurvedic massage, then whatever the assessment pointed at.
  3. The rest of the dayYours. Herbal tea whenever you want it, Piper Street on the doorstep, and nobody moving you along.
A cottage lounge with a wood heater, a leather armchair and a deep sofa by the window
A cottage bathroom with a freestanding bath, a round mirror and copper taps
A cottage kitchen and dining table, the lounge and its wood heater beyond
Warm oil dripping into a small brass bowl held in cupped hands
A blue and white bowl of kitchari, rice and lentils with herbs
A guest resting her face on a white towel, eyes closed

Yesterday I had the most amazing facial and massage with Claudia. From the moment I walked in I felt instantly nurtured, the whole experience made me feel taken care of. What an amazing place, the products used are beautiful and the ambience throughout was so relaxing. I would definitely book again the next time I am in Kyneton.

My husband Gary and I went to Maiaveda for a Panchakarma, an Ayurvedic cleanse. We were welcomed with a lot of warmth and reassurance. Each visit was filled with genuine love, support and compassion. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Both my husband and I could not recommend it more highly.

The moment I walked in, the atmosphere was so calm and welcoming. The massage itself was exactly what I needed, easily one of the best I have ever had. Claudia was highly skilled, attentive, and made sure to check in at the right moments. I cannot wait to book my next appointment.

It was my husband's birthday and we booked massages for my family. They even had an option for our 7 year old daughter. Clean rooms, clean towels, great ambiance. Claudia made sure I was comfortable throughout my massage. My new favourite spa.

How lovely that my two hour experience was a purely selfish indulgence. I was kept warm the whole time and even drifted off to sleep. Cannot recommend Pam or the service I experienced highly enough.

From one tired and sore mum, the pregnancy massage was beyond incredible. Marye welcomed me with such warmth. Claudia's massage was amazing, I actually walked out feeling like I was floating. It was not just a massage, it was a whole mind and body reset.

I attended the Women's Embodiment Retreat at Hepburn Springs. It was a beautiful peaceful setting. Mayre has a warm, generous, nurturing and healing spirit, as does her team that assist her, and makes the whole weekend flow effortlessly. A beautiful balance of yoga, meditation, life lesson wisdom and different workshops to try eg drumming and shigong, hammam experience, massages on offer, hot tub and cold plunge, a firepit circle at night, delicious food. This is a soul nourishing retreat, no pressure, welcoming, with other like minded women sharing a weekend together, looking for sustenance to continue with our busy lives. A weekend of self care. All I had to do was show up. Mayre took care of the rest. Highly recommended.

I had an incredible time at Maiaveda. Each of the treatments I received were so wonderful and Pam had me feeling so relaxed and held. The attention to detail, and the in between treatment moments are where I especially noticed just how much care was put into the experience being wonderful. I definitely recommend!

Marye has created a true sanctuary. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt completely enveloped in a sense of peace. Marye radiates a genuine, warm and nurturing energy that is incredibly rare to find. She took the time to listen to exactly what my body and mind needed, tailoring the experience with such profound care and kindness. During the treatment, I felt completely safe to let go and deeply rest. If you are looking for a place to heal, unwind, and feel genuinely nurtured from head to toe, this is it. I cannot wait to return.
