Wellbeing that remembers your rhythm

Ayurveda means the science of life. What it is, why warm oil, and why bodywork opens with a foot bath and ends with chai.

The word

If you have never heard the word

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of wellbeing whose name means the science of life. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, it sees each person as unique and focuses on creating balance between body, mind, and daily habits.

At its heart, Ayurveda teaches that when we live in rhythm with our nature and the seasons, through nourishing food, restful routines, gentle movement, and mindful moments, we support our body's own wisdom to heal and thrive.

Your constitution

Your own pattern, without the jargon

Within each of us flow three living currents: the lightness of movement, the warmth of transformation, and the grounding of structure. Your unique constitution shapes how you breathe, digest, dream, and hold stress.

By listening to this inner pattern and the pulse of the seasons, we weave nourishing food, soothing rituals, and gentle daily practices that guide your system back to balance. Come to slow down, tune in, and remember the deep, steady wisdom of your own body.

Ayurveda isn't about strict rules or quick fixes. It's about learning your own rhythm and unique constitution, and choosing food, rest, and rituals that bring your system back into balance.
The thing most people get wrong
Every treatment

Why a treatment opens with a foot bath and closes with chai

  • A warm herbal foot bath

Stepping out of your shoes and into warm water is a clear signal: you are safe to arrive. It slows the breath and begins to quiet the mind. Warmth draws blood to the lower limbs, softens stiff tissues, and prepares the body to receive oil and touch more deeply.

  • Warm oil, and a lot of it

In Ayurveda, oil is not an extra, it's at the heart of the work. Our therapies use generous amounts of warm, herbalised oil, applied slowly, so the body can soften and move from tension into rest.

  • Chai, to seal it with warmth

After bodywork, the body is open and relaxed. A warm, spiced chai is offered as a nurturing closing to the session. The aroma, sweetness, and ritual of sipping chai extend the feeling of being cared for, helping the benefits of the treatment settle before you step back into your day.

The place

How this differs from a day spa

Not a typical day spa but a sanctuary for aligning the body, soul and spirit. There is a special essence to those places intent on supporting others on their path to peace. Maiaveda is such a place.

Experience authentic Ayurvedic therapies, personalised wellness programs and peaceful retreats designed to restore your body, mind and nervous system.

Before your first visit

What we wish every guest knew before their first visit

You don't need to be well or ready to come to Maiaveda. The space is designed for people who are tired, tender, overwhelmed or somewhere in between. You can arrive exactly as you are.

Healing here is often subtle. You may not leave with dramatic insights or big transformations. Sometimes the win is simply feeling a little more grounded, a little less alone, or noticing that your body remembered how to rest. That counts.

Yesterday I had the most amazing facial and massage with Claudia. From the moment I walked in I felt instantly nurtured, the whole experience made me feel taken care of. What an amazing place, the products used are beautiful and the ambience throughout was so relaxing. I would definitely book again the next time I am in Kyneton.

My husband Gary and I went to Maiaveda for a Panchakarma, an Ayurvedic cleanse. We were welcomed with a lot of warmth and reassurance. Each visit was filled with genuine love, support and compassion. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Both my husband and I could not recommend it more highly.

The moment I walked in, the atmosphere was so calm and welcoming. The massage itself was exactly what I needed, easily one of the best I have ever had. Claudia was highly skilled, attentive, and made sure to check in at the right moments. I cannot wait to book my next appointment.

It was my husband's birthday and we booked massages for my family. They even had an option for our 7 year old daughter. Clean rooms, clean towels, great ambiance. Claudia made sure I was comfortable throughout my massage. My new favourite spa.

How lovely that my two hour experience was a purely selfish indulgence. I was kept warm the whole time and even drifted off to sleep. Cannot recommend Pam or the service I experienced highly enough.

From one tired and sore mum, the pregnancy massage was beyond incredible. Marye welcomed me with such warmth. Claudia's massage was amazing, I actually walked out feeling like I was floating. It was not just a massage, it was a whole mind and body reset.

I attended the Women's Embodiment Retreat at Hepburn Springs. It was a beautiful peaceful setting. Mayre has a warm, generous, nurturing and healing spirit, as does her team that assist her, and makes the whole weekend flow effortlessly. A beautiful balance of yoga, meditation, life lesson wisdom and different workshops to try eg drumming and shigong, hammam experience, massages on offer, hot tub and cold plunge, a firepit circle at night, delicious food. This is a soul nourishing retreat, no pressure, welcoming, with other like minded women sharing a weekend together, looking for sustenance to continue with our busy lives. A weekend of self care. All I had to do was show up. Mayre took care of the rest. Highly recommended.

I had an incredible time at Maiaveda. Each of the treatments I received were so wonderful and Pam had me feeling so relaxed and held. The attention to detail, and the in between treatment moments are where I especially noticed just how much care was put into the experience being wonderful. I definitely recommend!

Marye has created a true sanctuary. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt completely enveloped in a sense of peace. Marye radiates a genuine, warm and nurturing energy that is incredibly rare to find. She took the time to listen to exactly what my body and mind needed, tailoring the experience with such profound care and kindness. During the treatment, I felt completely safe to let go and deeply rest. If you are looking for a place to heal, unwind, and feel genuinely nurtured from head to toe, this is it. I cannot wait to return.
