About Maiaveda

What treatments do you offer?

Ayurvedic therapies, therapeutic and relaxation massage, bodywork, facials, spa rituals, yoga, meditation, somatic sessions and retreats, by a team of eight practitioners. The full menu with every price is on the treatments page.

Where are you?

Upstairs on the mezzanine of the Old Flour Mill, 18 Piper Street, Kyneton, in the Macedon Ranges historic precinct. We're about an hour from the Melbourne CBD, 20 minutes from Hanging Rock and 30 minutes from Daylesford.

Who comes to Maiaveda?

Many of our guests are professionals, carers, helpers and spiritually curious people who feel burnt out, depleted or overstimulated, and want somewhere gentle and unhurried to rest.

Is Ayurveda a replacement for my doctor?

No. Ayurveda is not a substitute for modern medicine, and it doesn't replace your doctor, your tests or emergency care. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, managing a health condition or taking medication, what we offer is complementary support, in conversation with your doctors and not instead of them.

What's the difference between a treatment and a retreat?

A treatment is usually a single session. A retreat is longer and more immersive, and can include several treatments, rest, meals, private yoga and meditation, and an Ayurvedic consultation, planned around you.

Can a retreat be personalised?

Yes. Rather than a set program, we build retreats around what each person needs and hopes for, so what's included depends on your intentions, how long you stay and how much support you'd like.

Before you visit

How far ahead should I book?

We're small and busy, so we suggest booking at least four weeks before your visit, especially for weekends and retreats.

When should I arrive?

On time, and ideally five minutes early. If you arrive late your treatment still finishes at the booked time, because we need time between sessions to prepare for the next guest. Allow extra time to find parking on weekends.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing, with minimal jewellery and makeup, especially for private yoga therapy and reflexology. If you're booking a facial and you shave, please arrive clean shaven.

I've never had an Ayurvedic treatment. Will I know what to do?

You don't need to know anything about Ayurveda, or what to say or do. Arrive as you are. We'll take time to listen to your story, your needs and any worries before we begin. Your treatment is tailored to you, and you're in control of the pace, the pressure and how much you share. The space is quiet, gentle and free of judgement. All we ask is that you arrive on time, wear something comfortable, and let us look after the rest.

Is there anything I need to fill in?

Yes. Before your first treatment you'll be emailed a client consent form with your booking confirmation. It asks about medical conditions, injuries and any medication you take, so please complete and sign it before you arrive. We're paperless.

What should I tell you about my health?

If you have allergies, high blood pressure, a heart condition or another medical condition, or you're pregnant, please check with your doctor before booking and tell your therapist. What we offer sits alongside your medical care, never in place of it. We also don't recommend alcohol before or straight after a treatment.

What should I know about the space?

We keep voices low and phones off, and the spa is smoke free. Maiaveda isn't responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property.

Changes and cancellations

How much notice do you need to cancel?

24 hours for weekday appointments and 48 hours for weekend appointments. Cancelling inside those times may incur a 50% fee, and same-day cancellations or no-shows are charged in full.

How do I change or cancel a booking?

Call or text us on 0420 580 886. Changes and cancellations can't be made through Vagaro.

What if I need to cancel a retreat?

Cancel more than 10 days before your arrival and you'll be refunded. Between 10 days and 48 hours before, your retreat will be rescheduled. Inside 48 hours, your 50% deposit isn't refunded. Payments for personalised retreats aren't refundable if cancelled within 7 days of the program.

Why is there a cancellation fee?

When you book, that time is set aside for you alone, and it isn't always possible to fill it at the last moment. We rely on your courtesy to let us know early if your plans change.

Payment, concessions and rebates

How can I pay?

Cash, Eftpos, direct transfer, PayPal, Visa and MasterCard. Weekend, retreat, spa package and group bookings need full payment to secure them.

Do weekends and public holidays cost more?

Weekend prices are shown on the treatment menu. Public holidays carry a 20% surcharge on treatments and spa rituals.

Do you offer concessions?

Yes. Eligible health care and concession card holders get $30 off all our services.

Can I claim a health fund rebate?

Rebates are available on remedial massage, myofascial cupping and lymphatic drainage with our remedial therapists. Please check with your health fund before your appointment, because not every fund recognises our remedial therapists' qualifications.

Do you take NDIS participants?

Yes. Our retreats and programs include short-term respite stays for NDIS participants. The details are on our NDIS and rebates page.
